Become a certified locksmith with this comprehensive 90-hour course, comprised of three levels. Learn the necessary skills to perform a number of locksmith jobs from making keys and broken key extractions to installation of various locks. Level I introduces students to locks and cylinders used in commercial and residential buildings. Troubleshoot common pin tumbler cylinder problems and simple master key systems and cross-reference key blanks. Gain hands-on experience with cam, lever, mortise and secondary locks.
Level II will have students performing master pinning and keying techniques, broken key extractions and working with mortise locks. These techniques will be applied to several brands and types of locks. By Level III, you will be installing mortise locks and door strikes and learning how to shim hinges. Learn about the features, functions and installation of high security locks such as Medeco® and Mul-T-Lock®.
