This 30-Hour training and certification course prepares individuals for a career in the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) field as Pest Control Operators. This is a NY State Department of Environmental Conservation required course to become certified for the 7A Structural and Rodent Pest Control License. The IPM field offers flexible hours with full-time and part-time employment opportunities that can eventually lead to self-employment.
Students will learn safe, evidence-based and environmentally-sensitive approaches to pest management that create healthier environments, especially for young children diagnosed with chronic asthma. In addition to learning the proper techniques of treatment methods, the course prepares you for IPM field experience, reading labels, equipment operation and the proper handling, mixing and disposal of products. Job placement assistance will be available for students upon successful attainment of industry-recognized credential. The certification exam will be held in Long Island City, NY.
Exam application fee, book and test preparation materials are included in the tuition. Students are responsible for the 7A certification license fee ($450.00), upon passing the exam.
1. High school diploma or GED desired but not required.
2. Current or past felony convictions does not disqualify you from this program. To obtain certification, you will need to obtain felony(ies) disposition letters, reference letter and a written letter outlining the details of the felony(ies) which is sent to New York State.
3. Valid photo identification (State ID, Passport, etc.)
4. Proof of authorization to work in United States
