Clinical Medical Assistant  

The Clinical Medical Assistant program combines 136 hours of classroom training, along with a 120 hour externship to prepare students for employment as professional Clinical Medical Assistants dedicated to patient care management. Graduates will be equipped to assist physicians with examinations and treatments, take medical histories, perform diagnostic tests, expose X-ray films, sterilize instruments and supplies, assist with minor surgery and administer medications. The program is further enhanced with 2 classroom hours dedicated to improving basic math skills as they relate to the course. The goal is to develop competent entry-level medical assistants in the cognitive (knowledge), psychomotor (skills) and affective (behavior) learning domains. Graduates will receive certificates of completion from Hostos after completing 120 externship hours. Students will take the AMCA (American Medical Certification Associaton) CMAC (Clinical Medical Assistant Certification) exam and receive three (3) industry certifications upon passing: CMAC, PTC (Phlebotomy Technician Certification) and ETC (EKG Techinician Certification).

Test fee of $145 not included.

Prerequisites:

1. Students must have a High School Equivalency Diploma

2. Pre-assessment test in Math and Reading required prior to registration
