American Sign Language (ASL) is the predominant sign language of deaf Americans and English speaking Canadians. Whether you are a teacher or a human resource professional looking for a continuing education or a professional development course, or you want to learn ASL for business, employment or personal use, this course will introduce you to the deaf culture and their language. You will learn sign vocabulary, expressive/receptive fingerspelling skills, ASL grammar, facial/gestural expressions and conversational styles. Fun class projects include learning how to sign a song, poem or story, individual presentations and group discussions of contemporary topics.
