The instructor candidate must be of good moral character pursuant to FDLE Rule 11B-27 and 11B-20 F.A.C. to be eligible for certification by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Upon completion of the course, students must complete a teaching internship prior to the certification process for FDLE.
COURSE: This fun, interactive, and motivating course is designed to prepare the officer interested in teaching either in-service officers, or CJSTC Academy students on criminal justice topics. The course uses a variety of teaching methods and presentation requirements to assist students in becoming an effective instructor.
Several teaching presentations are required, with preparation of a lesson plan, a test, learning aids, PowerPoint®, and a written final exam with a score of at least 85 % is required. Students must attend all sessions of the course.
NOTE: Students must bring a thumb drive to class each day. Students are encouraged to bring laptops to class. Work will be done using PowerPoint® in the computer lab (if available). Students will have some out of class homework to complete and are expected to have a working knowledge of computer use and PowerPoint®.
