This training covers the basics of mental health and mental illness, including common signs and symptoms to recognize. It explains the difference between substance use and substance abuse, outlines warning signs of addiction, and describes co- occurring disorders and why they occur. Participants will learn to identify common types of crises, recognize signs of someone in crisis—including suicidal or homicidal ideation—and understand how to respond effectively using the OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) loop.
