COURSE: Participants will engage in hands-on learning using real-world scenarios, case studies, and role-play exercises to apply key concepts in practical settings. Instruction is supported by Florida statutes, applicable case law, federal law, and self-assessment tools such as leadership style surveys and personality inventories.
The course also emphasizes the importance of officer wellness and its impact on performance and community safety.
NOTE: Students must attend all sessions of the course. Daily attire must be business casual, professional dress, or the approved agency uniform only.
Students must bring a thumb drive to class each day. Students are encouraged to bring laptops to class. Work may be done using PowerPoint® in the computer lab (if available). Students will have some out of class homework to complete and are expected to have a working knowledge of computer use and PowerPoint®.
Students are required to pass an end-of-course examination with a minimum of 80%.
