COURSE DESCRIPTION: This 16-hour course reviews the rules for obtaining and analyzing breath samples during breath testing and meets the requirements to certify the breath test operator’s permit using the Intoxilyzer 8000 series instrument. Training will include the role of the breath test operator, the instrumentation used to analyze breath test samples, how to properly obtain reliable breath samples, and the proper way to administer a breath test using the Intoxilyzer 8000.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: This 16-hour hands on course provides students with the necessary training to perform the role of the breath test operator as it relates to obtaining and analyzing breath samples during the breath test and preparing the required documentation for court. Also, students will learn how to obtain and maintain a Breath Test Operator Permit according to the FDLE rule.

NOTE: This course is available to both sworn Correctional and Law Enforcement Officers. Students must attend all sessions of the course. Each student must successfully demonstrate proficiency in administering a breath test, complete the forms associated with the breath test, and pass a written exam with a score of 80% or better.
