- This class is 4 hours and is not a salary incentive course.
- Training Authorization forms must be signed by an authorized agency representative.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This 4-hour course meets the requirements for periodic retraining of those holding a permit to conduct chemical tests using the Intoxilyzer 8000. This course meets all FDLE requirements.Training will include the role of the breath test operator, the instrumentation used to analyze breath test samples, how to properly obtain reliable breath samples, and the proper way to administer a breath test using the Intoxilyzer 8000. The student must possess a valid Breath Test Operator Certificate issued by the FDLE Alcohol Testing Program (ATP.)
COURSE TOPICS INCLUDE:
• Demonstrate how to check the subject for foreign objects in the mouth
• Explain why the subject must be observed for 20 minutes until the breath test is completed
• Describe the implied consent law
• List the elements of a valid breath test
• Demonstrate proficiency in administering a breath test

To attend this training the participant must be a Florida law enforcement officer, assistant state attorney, or Non-Sworn member employed by a law enforcement agency. There duties must include the administration of the Breath Test Operator.
