COURSE: This course is designed to provide officers with the basic tools and information to become a more effective Field Training Officer.

NOTE: Students are required to attend all sessions of the course, bring a copy of their agency’s FTO Daily Observation Form and Standard Evaluation Guidelines (SEG), and pass a written final exam with a minimum score of 80%.

TOPICS COVERED: Roles and Responsibilities of the FTO Program, Elements of Adult Learning and Instruction, Effective Communication Skills, Supervision and Leadership by the FTO, On-the-Job Counseling by the FTO, Evaluation and Remediation, and more.
