COURSE: This course is designed as an overview of conducting applicant backgrounds for the officer, investigator, or non-sworn personnel with limited experience in this area. Students will gain an understanding of the problematic, legal, investigative, and evidentiary aspects of background investigations.
TOPICS COVERED: The Applicant Background Investigation Process, Role of the Investigator, FDLE Requirements, Social Networking & Cyber Vetting, Case File Set Up and Organization, Investigative Guidelines, Polygraph and other Tools, Interviews, Public Records, Ethics & Professionalism, Analytical Tools & Resources, and more.
NOTES: Students are required to attend all sessions of the course and pass a written exam with a minimum score of 80%
*Students must bring a sample Applicant Screening & Applicant Background Questionnaire, Background Summary Report, Agency Transmittal Letter, and Supplemental Application (if used) on the first day of class.
