COURSE: This FDLE grant-funded course provides an overview of the skills needed to resolve a situation involving a hostage taker, barricaded subject, or suicidal individual. In addition, this course provides instruction at a fundamental level and when combined with previous experience, will enable the student to successfully respond to an incident.
TOPICS TO BE COVERED INCLUDE: Introduction to Negotiations, Roles and Responsibilities, Deployment of the Team, Intelligence Gathering, Communicating with Subjects, Negotiation Skills and Risk Assessment, Subject Factors, Incident Resolution, Stress Management, and more.
NOTE: Students must attend all sessions of the course and participate in curriculum role play. Students are required to pass an end-of-course examination with a minimum of 80%.
