Tactical Operations Command

This dynamic course addresses the various demands confronting today’s tactical commanders and team leaders. Hands-on exercises and group scenarios geared towards unique tactical realities will enable you to immediately apply the concepts taught in this class.

You will learn the origins of tactical operations in law enforcement and the evolution and models of today’s tactical teams. After an introduction to the history, philosophy and justification for tactical teams, we will focus on the basic demands facing a tactical commander, such as recruiting and retention, standards, documentation and training. You will learn basic and advanced tactical theory, leadership roles, organizational structure and the legal issues relating to tactical teams.

We will then move on to more advanced issues such as hostage/barricade resolution, knock and announce and no knock search warrant service and response to spontaneous and violent incidents. We will review watershed critical incidents and teach you how to handle internal and external factors that may affect the team.

This is a beginning to intermediate command course designed for tactical commanders and team leaders. On the last day of class, you will be required to participate in a group scenario where you will apply all of the principles covered during the week.
