This course provides first line supervisors with the basic skills to conduct administrative investigations of minor misconduct of both sworn and non-sworn public safety personnel. We will teach you how to take the initial complaint, conduct witness interviews and complete a final report. You will also learn to evaluate the severity of the complaint and determine if the complaint can be handled by the supervisor or should be forwarded to Internal Affairs.
We will examine the procedural differences between administrative and criminal investigations. Current legal issues and Early Intervention Systems will be discussed.
