Online independent study course conducted over two consecutive weeks.
Presented entirely online, this course will teach you how to use the Bosch© Crash Data Retrieval (CDR) Tool to collect speed and/or crash severity data prior to and during a collision from a variety of modern vehicles.
We will begin with a relevant history of Event Data Recorders (EDRs) and the Bosch© CDR Tool. We will discuss the common terms used in association with EDR technology and you will learn how to load and activate the Bosch© CDR Tool software on your computer.
We will present you with the proper techniques to use when collecting EDR data. You’ll learn how to troubleshoot data collection issues, how to prevent the corrupting or spoiling of data extraction, and the legal issues you need to consider. In addition, we’ll teach you how to use the Bosch© CDR Tool Help File as a current and future resource.

The class is arranged in modules, and each module is centered around an online video and a practical exercise or quiz. During the course, you will demonstrate your ability to use the CDR Tool by collecting data from five different vehicles and submitting the resulting images. Once the 30-day period has ended, you may no longer have access and be required to re-enroll. Additional fees may apply.
Note for international students: You must have access to five Bosch© CDR-covered vehicles. This may require significant effort if you are not in one of the Bosch© covered regions (USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, China, Brazil, Japan, Europe and Puerto Rico).
This is an independent study, self-paced course. Although there are no specific times that you must be online, you will be required to complete assignments by the deadlines posted within the course.
