Effective Strategies for Law Enforcement Health and Wellness (Online)

This is an independent study, self-paced course.

Officers today experience an increased threat to personal safety, and a demand for greater accountability. This leads to a greater level of physical, mental, and emotional stress on officers and their families. Identifying and addressing risk factors to health and wellness is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies and the communities officers are called to serve.

This course will provide law enforcement officers with the seven dimensions of health and wellness – physical, emotional/mental, intellectual, social, spiritual/mindfulness, environmental and occupational – with an emphasis on individual risk and protective factors.

Each module provides information to navigate the current roles and pressures of law enforcement, health and wellness prevention, and intervention strategies for recognizing when to seek assistance.

Topics Include

  • Seven areas that create overall health and wellness
  • Risk factors in each area that could impact a healthy lifestyle
  • Steps to develop protective factors in each area for positive health and wellness
  • Pathways for establishing support
  • Practical steps for achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle
  • How law enforcement organizations can assist in developing and sustaining officer health and wellness

Law enforcement, military police, and other public safety employees
