Summer Camps   

For over 30 years, Kalamazoo Valley Community College has offered summer camps for area students. This summer, a number of truly unique Cougar Camps will again be offered at the college's Texas Township and Center for New Media Campuses.

  • LEGO Creation & Stop Motion Camp

  • THIS CLASS IS FULL. Please click the "Add to Waitlist" button below.
  • Legos! Camera! Action! Create your very own stop-action movie. Campers will design, build and communicate using Lego bricks. This half-day camp offers participants the opportunity to explore STEAM education and activities. Love stop motion and LEGO? Then this camp is for you!

  • Join us for a 4-day workshop where students will learn character design, dynamic posing, comic storytelling, inking, and coloring. This is also a great opportunity to develop personal drawing style and to improve the ability to create visually engaging comic narratives. At the end of the workshop, our participants will walk away with a completed comic page or short story.

    This camp is generously funded by the Gil and Sylvia Golde Art Scholarship.

  • Through hands-on projects, guided lessons, and tons of creative freedom, creative campers will explore drawing techniques, expressions, costumes, poses, and visual storytelling. Campers will also create short comics and character profiles, building confidence as artists and storytellers along the way.

  • Urban Farm Explorers

  • See what it takes to grow, harvest and sample foods grown here at the college’s Food Innovation Center’s five-acre urban farm. Students will have the opportunity to explore our greenhouse, hoop houses and outdoor growing spaces, create salsa (depending on the seasonal availability of the produce), enjoy sampling local fresh produce and create art using botanicals.

  • Cougar Baseball Positional Players Showcase Camp

  • This section is for Boys entering grades 9-12 and will be held by the KVCC Baseball Coaches and current members of the KVCC Baseball Team.

     

    The morning will consist of Metric Tests which include:

    • Timed 60 yard run
    • Arm velocity measured with radar gun
    • Catchers Home - 2nd pop time
    • Hitting exit velocity during batting practice

    In the afternoon, campers will participate in a game overseen by the KVCC Coaches and Team.
