  • Curious about historic preservation? We can start by understanding the history of Historic Preservation and the evolution of the movement over time. In the U.S., we've gone from preserving and documenting only sacred sites and landmarks to a wider appreciation and recording of the built environment of everyday life. This class will trace the changes from the very first "historic" sites, such as Independence Hall and Mount Vernon, to the present-day designation of historic districts and tax credits to reward appropriate reuse of old buildings.

** You must have a webcam, speakers, and microphone (or headset) to participate in this online class.

Historic Preservation: An Introduction to Its History, Principles, and Practices by Norman Tyler, any edition
