Updated Course Information WS20:

Learning Across America has moved all courses through May 31, 2020 to a live online format due to COVID-19. Using this format, students can still attend class from their laptop, tablet, or smartphone at the convenience of their own home. We understand the disappointment of not being able to visit the city of your study, but our Learning Across America teachers have worked very hard to make the curriculum engaging and rich in this new format, and students have been responding very positively!

The Government of Canada recently put into place the following emergency order highlighting the following:

Until June 30, 2020, travel to Canada will be restricted for all foreign nationals coming from any country other than the United States (U.S.). Certain restrictions will apply to those travelling from the U.S.

These new restrictions prohibit foreign nationals, including U.S. nationals, from entering Canada for non-essential travel.

With this decision, Learning Across America is cancelling the tour to Niagara Falls originally scheduled for early June.

We know this decision raises a number of issues for you and we offer the following questions-and-answers to address your likely concerns.

Q: Now that the tour is cancelled, will I still earn 40 hours of educational credit?

A: Yes, you will as we have chosen to convert the Niagara Falls course into a live online format.

Your online course will consist of a pre-assignment, independent coursework and final assignment as well as live online class sessions with your teacher/other au pairs at the following times:

(Times below listed in Eastern Time. Click here for more details.)
Saturday, April 25: 10am-1pm (live online class session)
Sunday, April 26: 10am-1pm & 6:30pm-9:30pm (live online class sessions)

Please note that your pre-assignment will be emailed to you five days before your first online class session. You will receive details on how to log-in to your online class sessions one day before the start of the course.

Once the final online class session has concluded, you will have one week to submit your independent coursework and final assignment to your teacher. You must submit these by Sunday, May 3.

Students are required to be present during all live online class sessions. However, your independent coursework can be completed at your leisure before the deadline of Sunday, May 3. We wanted to create flexibility in completion as we know many au pairs now have increased work hours due to COVID-19.

Once you have successfully completed the course and submitted your final project, you will receive a CERTIFICATE via email stating you have earned CREDIT for 40 hours or 4.0 CEUs (Continuing Education Units). Certificates will be distributed to students on Wednesday, May 6.

Q: Since non-essential travel to Canada will not be possible over the near term, will I receive a partial refund?
A: Yes, you’ll receive a partial refund of $280. This means you’ll earn 40 hours of credit at a cost of $219. Refunds will be processed by the end of April to the card you used at the time of registration. You do not need to contact us to receive the partial refund. Once we process your refund, you will receive an email confirmation. Please note that it may take 2-4 business days for the money to appear back in your account. We are unable to refund to a different card than the one you used to at the time of registration.
