The Sounds of Nashville: A City's Music, Past & Present (In-Person!)   

Announcement June 29, 2021: During this time of transition, we are asking that students who join the in-person portion of this class provide proof of Covid vaccination. In-person meetings will take place primarily outside. Students are expected to remain masked for any indoor meeting or if students cannot maintain social distancing outdoors. The Sounds of Nashville

 

Nashville's connection to music is unequaled, and its reputation as Music City USA has been a constant for the past 200 years. In this course you'll explore the events that established both Nashville's robust live music scene and its influential music industry.

You'll discover how Nashville thrives today all the while experiencing a city where music is written, recorded, and performed every single day. In Nashville, music isn't just part of the culture, it is the culture.


CREDIT HOURS
Once you have successfully completed the course and submitted your final project, you will receive a CERTIFICATE via email stating you have earned CREDIT for 36 hours or 3.6 CEUs (Continuing Education Units).

Wednesday: 6pm-9pm (Online orientation)

Saturday: 10am–4pm
Sunday: 10am–4pm


 

 


 



 
Your pre-assignment will be emailed to you one week before your first class session. You will receive details on how to log-in to your online class sessions one day before the start of the course.

Once the final online class session has concluded, you will have one week to submit your independent coursework and final assignment to your teacher.

Students are required to be present during all class sessions. However, your independent coursework can be completed at your leisure before the deadline one week after your online class ends.

Your instructor, Jenny Casey, is a fan of music and Music City. A singer-songwriter, tour guide, former school teacher, and mother of four, she's performed all around Nashville, the US, and overseas. Her musical experience includes doing session work in studios to live comedy improv songwriting, and just about everything in between. She loves Nashville, and continually enjoys learning and sharing its musical history with people from all around the world.
