Announcement: April 14, 2020:
In order to reflect CUNY's decision to hold distance-learning courses through the summer, Learning Across America will be continuing in an online format through June 30, 2020. Any classes posted through June 30, 2020 will not be held in person or on location. Online courses will be held for the same number of credits as our in-person option. Please email us with questions at learningacrossamerica@bmcc.cuny.edu.
New York City’s vibrant arts and culture scene owes much to the contributions of individuals from around the globe who have fallen in love with the city and dedicated their talents to making it a creative beacon to all the world. But more than creating beauty, many of those artistic contributions are dedicated to advancing the cause of social justice across the city, nation and world. The course will explore how the arts and activism interact, with classroom session enriched by visits to some of the influential destinations that reflect that interaction.
Updated Course Information WS20:
Learning Across America has moved all courses through June 30, 2020 to a live online format due to COVID-19. Using this format, students can still attend class from their laptop, tablet, or smartphone at the convenience of their own home. We understand the disappointment of not being able to visit the city of your study, but our Learning Across America teachers have worked very hard to make the curriculum engaging and rich in this new format, and students have been responding very positively!
