Announcement: April 14, 2020:
In order to reflect CUNY's decision to hold distance-learning courses through the summer, Learning Across America will be continuing in an online format. Online courses will be held for the same number of credits as our in-person option. Please email us with questions at learningacrossamerica@bmcc.cuny.edu.
Philadelphia’s diverse population reflects individuals from many ethnic backgrounds. That diversity adds incredible creativity and energy to the city’s art scene which the course will explore. Classroom sessions will be enriched by a visit to the world-famous Philadelphia Museum of Art and a walk to experience firsthand some of the city’s amazing Mural Arts along with your teacher.
Updated Course Information WS20:
Learning Across America has moved all courses through June 30, 2020 to a live online format due to COVID-19. Using this format, students can still attend class from their laptop, tablet, or smartphone at the convenience of their own home. We understand the disappointment of not being able to visit the city of your study, but our Learning Across America teachers have worked very hard to make the curriculum engaging and rich in this new format, and students have been responding very positively!

Schedule:
Class meets online
Friday, June 26: 10am–1pm
Saturday, June 27: 10am–1pm
Sunday, June 28: 10am–1pm
Your course will consist of a pre-assignment, independent coursework and final assignment as well as live online class sessions with your teacher/other au pairs. Credit for J-1 visa students is 36 hours. Students earning J-1 visa credit must attend all sessions and complete all homework.
Please note that your pre-assignment will be emailed to you one week before your first online class session. You will receive details on how to log in to your online class sessions one day before the start of the course.
Once the final online class session has concluded, you will have one week to submit your independent coursework and final assignment to your teacher. If you submit your independent coursework and final assignment by the deadline, you will receive your certificate 10 days after your final class.
Students are required to be present during all live online class sessions. However, your independent coursework can be completed at your leisure before the deadline one week after your online class ends. We wanted to create flexibility in completion as we know many au pairs now have increased work hours due to COVID-19.
If you have any questions at this time, please email us at learningacrossamerica@bmcc.cuny.edu. Please continue to stay safe.
