    This class is designed for advanced learners who want to improve their writing skills for professional settings. You'll focus on creating clear, concise, and persuasive business documents—whether it's emails, reports, or presentations. In addition, you'll expand your business vocabulary and sharpen your understanding of advanced grammar to write with accuracy and confidence. Through practical exercises, real-world examples, and individualized feedback, you’ll develop the skills to communicate effectively and professionally in any business context. Ideal for non-native speakers aiming to excel in the global workplace.

    Prerequisites

    There are no prerequisites for taking this course.


     

    Cost and Credits

    Each class carries 36 educational hours, or 3 credits for the purposes of the J-1 visa. Students should always check with their counselor or agency when signing up for classes.

    This course is designed to prepare students to perform well on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). It utilizes a comprehensive language development approach focusing on each of the areas tested in the exam:

    • Reading
    • Listening
    • Speaking
    • Writing

    Class meets in person at our main campus in Manhattan.

    Instructor

    Mario Souza has a Master’s degree in TESOL from Hunter College. He has written questions for the TOEFL exam and has been a grader for the exam. Mario has been teaching ESL and EFL in the United States and overseas for more than 20 years. He is an important part of the CUNY Language Immersion Program at Laguardia College where he focuses on reading and composition.

    There are no prerequisites for taking this course.
