Online Harrassment, Cyberbullying and Discrimination in Schools: Prevention and Intervention (DASA)   

This 6-hour course satisfies the New York State requirement for course work or training in harassment, bullying, cyberbullying and discrimination prevention and intervention under the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Topics covered include: the intent, components and operational definition of the DASA; development and enhancement of awareness and sensitivity to the range of the specific student populations as named in the Dignity Act; how school climate and culture have an impact on student achievement and behavior; understanding bullying, harassment and discrimination including indicators, early warning signs, prevention and intervention and how to interact with families of victims and aggressors; enhancement of the understanding of diversity and multi-cultural environment and examination of personal biases; and articulation of the reporting requirements for educators as specified in the Dignity Act. DASA training is required for anyone applying for NYS certification on or after December 31, 2013.
