This course introduces students to the techniques necessary to perform a twelve-lead resting electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG). They learn about normal rhythm and arrhythmia, basic cardiac physiology, electrophysiology, and how to troubleshoot technical problems. Upon completion the student will be eligible to take the National Certification Exam. Prerequisite: HS/GED/TASC Required textbook: The Only EKG Book You'll Ever Need, 8th Ed. Malcolm Thaler 978-1-4511-9394-7 or 1-4511-9394-7. Students who wish to register for the Phlebotomy, EKG and PCT courses may purchase the study guides offered only on the National Healthcareer Association website. These study guides can be purchased instead of the separate textbooks at NHANOW.com. *Some In-person classes to be held at COTC.
