This class offers an opportunity to improve our physical abilities as we grow older. The emphasis is on flexibility, balance and muscular endurance. It is NOT a cardio class. We will work fingers, toes and everything in between. Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are recommended, and going barefoot (or socks) during class is preferred. About two-thirds of class is done while seated, the rest standing. Movements can be adjusted to meet many limitations. Bring water. All equipment is provided.

This is an introductory class for beginners and players without much experience. You will learn the rules, basic skills and strategy. Because pickleball requires short bursts of energy including bending and running, there is an additional risk of injury for players who lack adequate strength, agility and endurance training. Wear appropriate exercise clothing, including court shoes. Be sure to bring water.

This exercise course will be based on a martial art (Goju Ryu) that will be taught using a Tai Chi approach. Students will learn basic movements and two forms that will focus on stretching, balance, breathing and body awareness. We will also discuss how the movements can be used for self-defense.
