Evolution: What it Means

In 1859, Darwin proposed (On the Origin of Species) a model of evolution based on “natural selection”.

Strongly supported by scientists, evolution has served as the fundamental unifying principle in biology. The lecture will introduce the major principles of evolutionary biology and how they now serve as the underpinning of biotechnology, medical research, and agriculture.

The lecture will also address Social Darwinism, eugenics, and other political abuses of evolutionary theory.
