The Spectacular Cities, Villages, and Scenery of Northern and Central Italy   NEW!

Just back from her travels in Italy, Edith Gandy takes you on a photographic journey through some of the most dramatic scenery in all of Italy. You will also learn about the fifth smallest country in the world, San Marino.

Session 1 – Lake Como and Cinque Terre
Lake Como, set in the foothills of the Alps, is a resort area known for dramatic scenery. Cinque Terre is a string of five seaside villages on the Italian Riviera. In each village, colorful houses and vineyards cling to steep terraces overlooking harbors filled with fishing boats and trattorias. This session teaches you about the history and culture of this scenic area and includes recipes for some of the area’s famous Northern Italian cuisine.

Session 2 – San Marino
Landlocked and surrounded by Italy, the Republic of San Marino (also known as the “Most Serene Republic of San Marino”), is one of the smallest countries in the world. Said to be the oldest surviving republic, the unique character of San Marino offers a glimpse of an era when city-states proliferated across Europe. Learn about the history, majestic scenery and rich culture of this quaint little country.

Session 3 – Tuscany
Tuscany is home to some of the world’s most recognizable Renaissance art and architecture, including Michelangelo’s David. Its diverse landscape encompasses rugged mountains, beaches on the Tyrrhenian Sea and Chianti’s famous olive groves and vineyards. This session includes an overview of some of Tuscany’s outstanding vineyards and the wines they produce.
