Gain the skills and knowledge needed to become a Water Safety Instructor. Candidates will learn how to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue and Personal Water Safety courses, six levels of Learn-to-Swim, three levels of Preschool Aquatics, and two levels of Parent and Child Aquatics, as well as the six basic swimming strokes. To enroll instructor candidates must be at least 16 years of age on or before the last day of the instructor course and successfully complete the pre-course session which includes demonstration of swimming skill at Learn-to-Swim Level 4.

Want to become a lifeguard? Learn to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to aquatic emergencies to prevent drowning and injuries. With successful completion, you will be American Red Cross-certified in Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR for the Lifeguard. Prerequisites: Students must be able to jump in, submerge, and resurface then nonstop swim 150 yards (6 lengths) (either front crawl/freestyle or breaststroke) tread water without using their hands for 2 minutes, then swim an additional 50 yards (2 lengths). All 3 skills must be done in a continuous fashion.
