 Learn the characteristics of substance abusers and regulations governing drug-free workplaces as indicated in Iowa's drug testing law Iowa Code Section 730.5, paragraph 9.h. and Administrative Code Section 640. A private sector employer who chooses to use this tool must attend a minimum of two hours of initial training to begin, and a minimum of one-hour annual update training. This training meets the one-hour annual refresher training requirement and includes information concerning the recognition of evidence of employee alcohol and other drug abuse, the documentation and corroboration of alcohol and drug abuse, and the referral of employees who abuse alcohol or other drugs to the employee assistance program or to the resource on file maintained by the employer pursuant to paragraph c", subparagraph (2) of the Iowa code.
