This Field Experience provides purposeful classroom observations for pre-service teachers. Students will reflect on the ways schools function, identify the roles and responsibilities of teachers, and observe student behavior. Through this field experience, the students will get a realistic view of being a teacher and will be able to make an informed decision as to whether or not teaching is a good career choice.

This class is part of the Paraeducator certificate and cannot be taken as a standalone class. This class must be completed between 8/31/2026 and 12/17/2026. This class will be completed online. Registration closes at 3:00 pm on Monday, August 17th, 2026.

This course examines American education from a historical, philosophical, and sociological perspective. Challenges and issues in education today will be discussed in the context of school organization, politics, funding, curriculum, professionalism, legal issues, and effective school and teacher characteristics.

This class is part of the Paraeducator certificate and cannot be taken as a standalone class. This class must be completed between 8/31/2026 and 12/17/2026. This class will meet weekly on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00-11:00 am OR can be taken entirely online. Registration closes at 3:00 pm on Monday, August 17th, 2026.
