Have you heard about Zentangle? This mesmerizing drawing trend uses ink pens and patterns to create “zen”ful “tangle”d drawings, or little abstract drawings. You can leave the creation in simple black and white or add any color media you want. At each session, we’ll try out different patterns and learn to make our own, as well as you environmental clues to inspire original drawings. Charcoal is an incredible tool to use for dramatic, quick looks in drawing. Come give charcoal a try in this class: No drawing experience is necessary…beginners are welcome! Materials needed: drawing paper/pad with smooth texture, 60 lb. rating or higher, #2 pencil, white eraser, clear ruler, black charcoal pencil (like General’s brand 6B-ext. soft), hand sharpener, small amount of blue or clear tape, blending tortillions aka stumps (sold singly and in packs/ok to start with one), and eventually a fixative spray, discussed in class.

The instructor will guide you through blending vibrant, glowing hues and applying resist techniques to paint an iconic San Antonio scene. At the end of the workshop, you will have 1-2 festive cards that you can share with family and friends. Lots of reference photos, templates, and embellishments will be available to spark your creativity.

Let’s have fun painting your special fur baby (or feathery, scaly, or slimy baby). The instructor will guide you step by step to create an 11x14 beautiful pet portrait with personality. Pre-sketched canvasses and all materials will be supplied. Once the class is confirmed, the instructor will contact you to request a digital picture of your pet so the sketch can be created.
