Using Devised Theater as a Catalyst for Social Change

Take a deep dive into theater as a means to educate, advocate, inspire and build community. Drawing from Augusto Boal's groundbreaking work, Theater of the Oppressed, we will tap into the group’s personal experiences to create a collaborative performance piece around a selected social issue. Discover how devised theater can inspire social change using activities that tap into experience around various socially relevant issues. Through theatre games, idea-generating activities and free writing, we will discover our unique performance piece designed to shape the world for the better. Please bring a notebook and pen to class.
