Oaxacan Carving

Anyone who has been to Mexico has seen these wildly painted carved animal figurines. In this introductory carving class Saman will teach the student how to carve and paint them for themselves. During the class, Saman will discuss and demonstrate tool use, as well as sharpening and honing techniques to keep your tool edges razor sharp. Once the carving is complete the real fun begins as your imagination is free to paint the figures as brightly and wildly as you like. Saman also happens to be an excellent painter and will show the students various ways to make their creations unique.
