Let's Go to the Theatre & See: Appropriate

Love theatre or want to dive in? Join this fun, community-focused class where we prep to see local plays with engaging pre-show workshops—exploring themes, characters, and production details—then attend Saturday matinees together. Stick around after the show for lively group discussions. Whether you're new to the arts scene or a longtime fan looking for a crew to chat with, this is your ticket to deeper connection and great performances. No theatre experience needed! Workshops held at North Seattle College; outings at local theatres.

Appropriate by Brandon Jacobs-Jenkins: When the Lafayettes descend upon their late father’s crumbling plantation home for an estate sale, they unearth an appalling secret that pits them against one another. Through a cascading series of revelations, biting humor boils over into bruising conflict, and no one will escape this family gathering unscathed. Smart, incendiary, and never before produced in Seattle, this 2024 Tony Award winner by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins depicts a Southern family wrestling with a destructive inheritance as they consider the legacy they want to leave for the next generation. Location: Seattle Rep (Seattle Center)
