North Seattle Community Orchestra

The North Seattle Community Orchestra (NSCO) is an inclusive, community-based ensemble open to musicians of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Modeled after the Philadelphia Community Orchestra (PCO), the NSCO provides a welcoming space for those who want to make music together-whether you are returning to your instrument after many years, picking it up for the first time, or seeking new creative challenges.

The orchestra explores an eclectic repertoire that goes beyond the traditional canon. Our programs feature rarely heard works from the past, alongside experimental, improvised, and contemporary music from the 20th and 21st centuries. We also work with graphic and text-based scores that make participation accessible to players with varying levels of musical training.

Rehearsals take place every other Saturday at North Seattle College through the Continuing Education program, offering participants the chance to build community while developing their musicianship in a collaborative, supportive environment. The NSCO values curiosity, openness, and creativity over technical perfection-focusing on the joy of discovery and the shared experience of making music.

Whether you are a seasoned musician or brand new to ensemble playing, the North Seattle Community Orchestra invites you to join in and help create something adventurous, inclusive, and uniquely rooted in our neighborhood.
