Oklahoma CNG Compressor Mechanic - Level 2 - Assessment/Exam   

The Oklahoma Compressor Technician – Level 2 (Mechanic) licensees may perform all duties necessary to install, repair, replace, service, inspect, modify, and/or maintain CNG fill station equipment. A technician must possess at least three (3) total years of experience before taking this course. Experience Requirements (as required by the Oklahoma Department of Labor (ODOL) are): • One year of documentable experience with an associate's degree in Natural Gas Compression; (OR) • One year of documentable experience with approved industry certifications as approved by the Committee; (OR) • Three years of documentable experience without the aforementioned education or industry certification. This requires a signed affidavit from current and/or former employer(s) to verify experience. This “course” provides evaluation of a technician’s skills and knowledge. Training is not provided in this “course”. On the selected date, technicians will complete a written exam and a set of skill assessments. Standards for the exam and assessments were developed and adopted by the ODOL. Written Exam Knowledge will be tested through a written exam. The Oklahoma Compression Technician Level 2 (Mechanic) written exam is based on seven standards. These standards include: • Demonstrate Knowledge of Law, Rules, Standards, and Codes that Apply to CNG Compressor Operations • Use Fundamental Knowledge Required of CNG Compressor Operators • Use Safe Work Practices • Demonstrate Knowledge of CNG Compressor Components and Systems • Inspect and Perform Routine Maintenance on CNG Compressor Systems • Document Inspection and Maintenance Performed on Compressor Systems • Perform Repairs on CNG Compressor Systems Skill Assessments Skills will be tested through a set of hands-on skill assessments. The Oklahoma Compression Technician Level 2 (Mechanic) skill assessments are based on eight standards. These standards include: • Demonstrate Lockout/Tagout of Equipment, • Demonstrate the Use of a DVOM and Ohm’s Law • Read and Interpret a Flow Diagram • Explain PRD Service and Replacement • Demonstrate Knowledge of Internal Compressor Balance, • Demonstrate Isolation Points and Depressurization, • Demonstrate Torque Techniques, • Demonstrate Calibration of Compressor Equipment
