Economics plays a vital role in the functioning of every aspect of society. This course will address a set of prominent policy issues where economics is at its core. Members will explore their origins as policy matters, the underlying data and evidence, and what policy levers are available to deal with them. Lectures will be standalone, taught by subject matter experts, each having a PhD in economics. Potential topics include climate change, healthcare economics, economic inequality, and more. The topics presented will address the most current events at the time of the course.

We will examine how individual investors can survive and even thrive in volatile environments. We will also examine the global economy, United States politics and its impact on stocks, and even the future of technology as we try to make sense of the broader market and our own finances.

Diligent savers enter the second half of retirement with little insight into the complex tax and distribution planning dangers that can wipe away the sacrifice made during their working years. This course is designed to educate participants about how to keep more of their retirement savings by effective use of planning opportunities available under current tax laws. This course is updated annually to reflect new legislative developments and tax planning opportunities.

This course examines today's economic trends and issues in the United States and globally. Final topics are chosen based on economic issues most prominent at the start of the course. Prior topics have included: U.S. government debt, Brexit, U.S. trade and trade policy, world currency markets, and the rise and fall of U.S. inflation. Each topic is examined from perspectives of trends, causes, impacts, and potential remediations. The course is structured around presentation, but is intended to be discussion-oriented with high student participation.
