30557 Francophone Africa: Prior to Colonization to Nowadays - Culture Corps   NEW!

"Until the lion tells his side of the story, the tale of the hunt will always glorify the hunter." The goal of this course is to discuss and retrace the social and economic structures of French-speaking Africa before the arrival of the colonizers and analyze the alterations colonization brought to the local ways of doing and living, through in-class discussions and guest speakers. Seats: 30 Seyni Mbaye, Master’s candidate, international development practice, Humphrey School of Public Affairs, U of M, native of Senegal, West Africa.
