Course Description:
Although known as the number to compute circumference and area of a circle, pi appears in many unexpected places in mathematics, science, and engineering, including a simple but beautiful equation known as Euler's identity. This class will show computation of pi has changed over time as a means of illustrating how mathematics has developed and will highlight the work and biographies of great mathematicians, including and the legendary Ramanujan. The class will draw mostly on highschool math and will provide ample materials for followup for participants with all levels of training to future explore mathrelated topics
