Although known as the number to compute circumference and area of a circle, pi appears in many unexpected places in mathematics, science, and engineering, including a simple but beautiful equation known as Euler's identity. This class will show computation of pi has changed over time as a means of illustrating how mathematics has developed and will highlight the work and biographies of great mathematicians, including and the legendary Ramanujan. The class will draw mostly on high-school math and will provide ample materials for follow-up for participants with all levels of training to future explore math-related topics
