Paris Explodes: Music and Dance in the Golden Age

Hear again the new sounds that filled the air and enhanced Paris's Golden Age early in the twentieth century. Learn more about Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, which took the city by storm as we review stories about this remarkable ballet company. Discover how compositions by Chopin, Rimsky-Korsakov, Stravinsky, Debussy, Satie, and Manuel de Falla fired the imaginations of Fokine, Massine, Nijinsky, Cocteau, Picasso, and Chanel. Note: Suggested Reading: Lieven, Prince Peter. The Birth of the Ballets Russes, 2010. Homans, Jennifer. Apollo's Angels, 2010. Garafola, Lynn. Diaghilevs Ballets Russes, 1998.
