We like to make good decisions, but we're not always as rational as we think. This course uses research in neuroscience, psychology and behavioral economics to explore roadblocks to sound decision making. Through video clips, exercises and discussion we'll explore how our brains work, sometimes subconsciously, in making decisions. We'll explore how we integrate reason and emotion –or fail to do so. We’ll examine traps in personal, social, economic and political decision making and how to avoid them. Our four sessions include: The Brain and Its Limits; Integrating Logic and Emotion; How Our Subconscious Decides; and Mental Biases and Traps.
