Hats! The Importance of the Women's Millinery Industry in American History
NEW!
Imagine there was once a time when women considered hats more important than shoes! This lecture series will include original slide presentations illustrating dramatic millinery designs from private as well as museum collections, and never-before-published historic imagery. Each week, mini-exhibits of authentic head-turning hats will be on display covering every major era between 1770 to 1970. Hear the dramatic stories about how glamorous headgear evolved into male-dominated factory businesses and gave birth to labor and endangered species laws. Understand the sculptural artistry, feminine self-expression, and profound importance of hats and bonnets in our American history.
