Virginia's Death Penalty: the Future is History
This course will explain the declining use of capital punishment in Virginia and across the country. Participants will examine the history of the death penalty, execution methods, changing legal standards, class and racial disparities, and the practices of the law enforcement community in carrying out Virginia's capital punishment system. Guest speakers, including death row exonerees and murder victim family members, will share their experiences with the death penalty legal process.
