Getting Better at Getting Older: Balance Better   

In this lecture course we will consider techniques that can help us maintain our independence as we age, paying particular attention to how balance and strength change over time. Falls and dizziness are among the leading causes of physician visits among older people, and the fear of falling is a major factor in people losing their independence. Everyone hears that exercise is beneficial. However, most of us are either "too busy," "too afraid to fall," or "don't know which exercises to do." This course will provide knowledge and exercises to help maintain safety and independence. Though movement and exercises will be discussed, actual exercise will not be a part of this course.
