Mechanics of Beekeeping: The Beekeeper's Year
Oriented to the first-year beekeeper or as a refresher for the hobbyist getting back into beekeeping, this course will provide an overview of what to expect in a year of keeping bees. It will cover the fundamentals of beekeeping as well as best practices in light of current research on honey bee health and pest management. Structured around the beekeeper's calendar, this course should have you prepared for a spring beekeeping course and the arrival of 10,000-30,000 honey bees! Topics to include: basic bee biology, essential equipment, the apiary, obtaining bees, pests and diseases, seasonal management, and the harvest.
