Most of us feel that our behavior is determined by neither heredity nor environment - instead, we have free will and our choices are guided by, and are expressions of, our character. What IS character? Does it inoculate us against wrongdoing? It is good to be moral, but is "morality" always good? If we are trained in character from an early age and governed by codes of morality, why is there so much evil? A new look at perennial themes.
