McIntire Botanical Garden - Its Past and Future   NEW!

Building a public botanical garden is not an easy feat, and as a gift from the community to the community, the McIntire Botanical Garden is a very ambitious project. This course will outline what has already been achieved in the process toward building the garden and give insight into the road map ahead. The first session will be in the classroom and the second session will be a social distance tour of the garden site. The tour will let you see for yourself how the garden is already working to showcase some of the unique flora of the Piedmont region, and to enhance public knowledge and conservation of plants and nature. NOTE: Students are expected to adhere to all social distancing and masking requests when on the garden tour. The tour will require walking for an extended period with some uneven terrain. Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy, waterproof footwear and weather-appropriate clothing.
