Measure for Measure: Shakespeare, Power, Politics and Private Morality NEW!

One of Shakespeare's "problem plays," Measure for Measure is an unsettling meditation on the use of power in public life and the role that personal morality should play in governance. This dark comedy's debate on these topics both intrigues and disturbs contemporary audiences. This class will explore these themes through lecture and discussion. We will be aided by viewing a video of the play in each session.
