The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had a dream. But *can* we see the content of the character at all, or only the color of the skin? This course will take a more focused look at bigotry than a general Social Psychology course. We will start with an overview of how social perception and cognition happen in general, then concentrate on how the “Us or Them"" component influences how we see others, and what we read into their behaviors. We will address highly controversial issues, such as police shootings, anti-Semitism, sexism, ageism, politicization of science, and other prejudices and discriminations. We will conclude with how to [try to] work against such divisions.
